The Possibility of Happy

I just LOVED the Oscars last night.  This made me laugh.  Did you watch?  Ellen, the host, walked into the audience half way through the show and tried to take a selfie with Meryl Streep.  This is what happened next.  People where diving, running, and jumping to get into the shot.

I love that the arm on the left side belongs to Liza Minnelli who is trying to climb Kevin
Spacey to be in the picture.

Peter the brother.

What cracks me up about this picture, apart from the idea of it, the photo bombing, and the fact that they are having so much fun, is Lupita Nyongo’o’s  (Best Actress for 12 Year’s a Slave) brother, Peter.  He’s one of the most prominent people in the picture!  He’s an 18 year old college kid.  So there is Ellen, Jared Leto, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Peter, the brother.  Hilarious.

Then there was Edgar the pizza guy.

Edgar was just a guy that came to deliver pizza back stage and look what happened…

He said he had no idea what was about to happen when he showed up to deliver the pizzas.

The whole show was happy.

Even a song called “Happy” was nominated.

Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do.  (Pharrell Williams)

Watching an awards show with people who are really talented, rich, and/or have a ton of opportunities is entertaining but doesn’t make me HAPPY per se.  But watching people just being people while having fun sharing jokes, that’s kind of happy.  Peter, the brother, and Edgar, the pizza guy, being in the right place at the right time totally made me happy.  It reminds me of those moments when the unexpected happens and all is good with the world.  And when we are happy we celebrate what’s right.  And when we celebrate what’s right we do a pretty good job at shutting out what’s wrong.  And when we do that we are open to a whole lot of possibility.

I really like possibility and that makes me happy.
